Will I be awake during the procedure?expand_more
In many cases, lipoma removal can be performed under local anaesthetic, so you'll be awake but the area will be numbed. Regional or general anaesthesia may be used for larger or more deeply positioned lipomas.

It's possible, though not common. Removing the lipoma completely, including its surrounding capsule, gives the best chance of it not returning.
