Mr Paul Sutton

Mr Paul Sutton is a consultant general and colorectal surgeon in Manchester and Cheshire, practising at the Wilmslow Hospital and The Christie Private Care. He is the lead consultant at The Cheshire Bowel Clinic, specialising in abdominal pain, colonoscopy and
Mr Sutton graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2006 and completed his postgraduate training in Nottingham, Manchester, and Liverpool, during which he was awarded a clinical research training fellowship by Cancer Research UK. He completed a PhD in methods of improving treatment responses to chemotherapy and radiotherapy for colorectal cancer in 2015, and for which he was recognised with the John of Arderne medal from the Royal Society of Medicine, and the Arris & Gale medal from the Royal College of Surgeons. Upon completing his surgical training, he undertook both the European Society of Peritoneal Surface Oncology fellowship and the European Board Surgical Qualification in Surgical Oncology. Mr Sutton has additionally done a year of training at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney, where he gained experience in managing advanced pelvic malignancy.
Mr Sutton is a JAG-accredited endoscopist and conducts research on predicting and modifying response to adjuvant therapy in colorectal cancer, and improving outcomes for patients with locally advanced and recurrent rectal cancer. His research has been published in over 100 peer-reviewed papers and he is currently an editor for the BJS. Furthermore, Mr Sutton is an honorary senior lecturer in the Division of Cancer Sciences at The University of Manchester.
Miss Ashleigh Maske
Dietitian
Ashleigh is a HCPC registered dietitian with expertise in gastrointestinal health. She completed an undergraduate degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics at Glasgow Caledonian University, and a Master’s degree in Nutrition and Exercise Science at the University of Chester. She currently works as the lead dietitian for the colorectal service at The Christie Hospital, supporting people through major bowel surgery, treatment, and recovery.
At the Cheshire Bowel Clinic, Ashleigh’s areas of clinical interest include irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), symptoms associated with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), functional gastrointestinal disorders, and wider aspects of digestive health. She is also a qualified mat and reformer Pilates instructor, complementing her clinical practice with a focus on functional movement and strength. Her practice is centred on delivering evidence-based, tailored dietary guidance to support symptom management and long-term gut health.
Mrs Natalie Sutton
Advanced Clinical Practitioner
Natalie is an Advanced Clinical Practitioner with expertise in patient assessment and diagnostic decision-making. Holding an MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice and as a prescriber, she brings skills in evaluating, diagnosing, and managing acute and chronic conditions. Her career spans acute medicine, haematology, cancer care, transplant services, and mental health care, where she has led initiatives to integrate physical health into inpatient mental health services. Natalie is highly proficient in comprehensive clinical assessment, including physical examination and formulation of evidence-based care plans. She also possesses specialist expertise in nutritional assessment and management of patients with complex needs. In her current NHS role, Natalie oversees specialist dietetic services and supports multidisciplinary teams across 26 wards, ensuring high standards of care and patient safety.
At the Cheshire Bowel Clinic, Natalie works as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner undertaking health screening and ensuring that your care is directed appropriately based on your needs.
Dr Bevin McCartan

Dr Bevin McCartan, MB BCh BaO MRCSEd MRCEM FFSEM, is an experienced Sport and Exercise Medicine Consultant. At the heart of Dr McCartan's practice is her innovative and tailored approach to performance and health optimisation. Drawing on her extensive background in elite sport, she combines cutting-edge medical insights with a holistic perspective to refine recovery, prevent injury, and enhance overall well-being. She understands that no two patients are the same and designs bespoke plans that integrate physical, mental, and lifestyle considerations, empowering individuals to achieve their goals.
Outside of clinic, Dr McCartan's passion for wellness extends to her own life. She enjoys running, strength training, padel, and Pilates, embracing an active lifestyle that reflects her professional philosophy. Whether treating elite athletes or individuals striving for better health, Dr McCartan is dedicated to delivering exceptional care and fostering long-term wellness for her patients.
